Report

A late afternoon kick off was prescribed for the second round of the cup which welcomed back Killamarsh Dynamos after their recent visit in the league. It was also great to see Oliver Tyas in the crowd cheering the team on from the touchline! After the non-event at Hillsborough it was left to the U11's of Greenhill and Killamarsh to provide some entertaining football...

Greenhill were quick off the marks and were a goal to the good  thanks to the quick feet of Callum. Despite the arrival of the regular keeper for Dynamos, a succession of goals followed from Greenhill after some superb midfield play from Owen releasing the forward attacking play. A looping shot from Oliver H out wide, a Kai header, a chip from Callum and a penalty coolly drilled by Tom provided a very comfortable 6-0 scoreline at half time.

The second half was a more even affair but first Greenhill went further ahead from an own goal and a further penalty by Tom. The absence of defensive duo, Chris and Josh, left the coach with little option but to play a back three of Joel, Kai and Sam - not the tallest of defences! The trio responded to the task most admirably, proving to be a very tight unit, moving up, communicating and covering each other when required. This earned Sam the MOM award having never before played in a back three before but performing very assuredly and with great committment. A couple of consolation goals by Killamarsh gave the away fans something to cheer about at last but it was too little too late as Greenhill ran out comfortable winners. Full time, 8-2.

A super win today for Greenhill to take the team into the Quarter Finals of the Cup. Good football, some super goals and great team spirit! Onwards and upwards Greenhill!!
