Latest News Winners of Brampton tournament again - Well done Greenhill JFC U10's      WELL DONE TO GREENHILL JFC FOR WINNING DIVISION Y 2009/2010 SEASON
TEAM HISTORY
Tournament Winners again (13/07/09)

Having narrowly missed out last year to a golden goal in the final we once again enetered two teams to this years tournament at Brampton. With some of the strongest teams in the area being represented it was always going to be a big ask to emulate last years achievements. On the day both teams showed steel and determination winning one of the group stages and finsihing runners up in the other. With 24 teams participating to qualify for the quarter finals was no mean feat and in some tournaments would have been equivalent to winning them. Both sides played good football against strong opposistion with the yellows narrowly missing out with a late goal in extra time, the oranges however progessed into the semi final. Playing some of the best football of the day they progreesed through the semi final stage to meet a strong Handsworth Boys side in the final, although we took an early lead we were pegged back in the second half and extra time followed. Extra time could not separate the teams and so a dreaded penalty shoot-out, the boys stepped upto the plate and did everyone proud gaining victory in the penalties.
Thanks to all at Brampton for a great tournement, the our opposistion on the day who ensured every game was hard fought and most of all thanks to all the players who showed what a fantastic level of football is played at U9 level

Well done Boys!!!!!!!!!

Chesterfield Town Tounament Winners (15/06/09)

On what must have been one of the warmest afternoons of the year so far Greenhill JFC again played in the Chesterfield Town Tournement. One year on from our first tournemnt sucess the team had it all to do again and with a year extra under their belts the standard of football was a credit to all the teams that played on the day. With one half of the team topping their group and the other half getting through to the semi-s on goal differance the team had already made everyone concerned very proud!!! Both Greenhill sides met each other in the semi finals gurenteeing that we would have one side in the final. The game was (as expected) very tight with a single goal deciding it. Onto the final to face the winners of Handsworth Boys or Bramley Sunnyside, with Bramley winning the semi for the second year running we reached the final. With the day finally beginning to cool the team kicked off, looking like they had not just had over two hours in the sun. We cannot speak highly enough of the whole team who were a credit to themselves, their families and to all concerned with Greenhill JFC. From the very first kick we battled, we passed and we looked assured in everything we did. As with the other games everyone knew their job and did it very very well. The first piece of silverware now sits proudly with Greenhill JFC having won the final convincingly.
Greenhill JFC showed spirit, guille and most importantly played with a smile on their face
Thanks to all our oponents on the day where we renewed some friendships and made new ones and thanks also to Chesterfield Town for a very well organised tournament.

A new season awaits ... (24/06/08)

Having run trials earlier than usual this year our squad is now in place. A victory in our first friendly was quickly followed up with both teams reaching the final of the Chesterfield Town and Eckington Boys tournaments

2008/2009 season (01/06/09)

Having been winners and runners up in bioth the Chesterfield Town and Eckington Boys tournements and also runners up in the Bramptom tournement the side went from strength to strength.
Losing only once in the league friendlies throught the season the team played attractive and exiting tootball, showed great charecter and above all played with a smile on their faces.
They are a credit to all concerned and we all look forward to another exiting season, meeting olld friends along the way and of course making new ones.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
