Brampton Tournement Winners

Having narrowly missed out last year to a golden goal in the final we once again enetered two teams to this years tournament at Brampton. With some of the strongest teams in the area being represented it was always going to be a big ask to emulate last years achievements. On the day both teams showed steel and determination winning one of the group stages and finsihing runners up in the other. With 24 teams participating to qualify for the quarter finals was no mean feat and in some tournaments would have been equivalent to winning them. Both sides played good football against strong opposistion with the yellows narrowly missing out with a late goal in extra time, the oranges however progessed into the semi final. Playing some of the best football of the day they progreesed through the semi final stage to meet a strong Handsworth Boys side in the final, although we took an early lead we were pegged back in the second half and extra time followed. Extra time could not separate the teams and so a dreaded penalty shoot-out, the boys stepped upto the plate and did everyone proud gaining victory in the penalties.
Thanks to all at Brampton for a great tournement, the our opposistion on the day who ensured every game was hard fought and most of all thanks to all the players who showed what a fantastic level of football is played at U9 level

Well done Boys!!!!!!!!!

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
