Greenhill JFC U7’s V Kiverton Park
Another foggy day greeted us but the boys were raring to go
The Gladiators kicked off first but unbelievably Kiverton scored the game’s first goal and as it turned out their only goal. A quick response with the ball pin-balling around the box finally put home by Oliver Groombridge. Soon after Owan Derrett Came baring down on goal with a one on one with the keeper making it look easy by sliding it to the bottom left hand corner. There seemed to be many Kiverton goal mouth scrambles but only down to the continuous pressure with Owan Scoring a second. Taylor Simpson added to the tally with a tremendous long range effort from the right wing. There was some great interplay and quality passing which kept kiverton pinned in their half. Then like a tornado Kyran Cosgrove popped up and drove his first into the bottom right hand corner. Then a second power blast straight from a Kiverton goal kick. We were then treated to a Kyran fest, Kyran in the roof, Kyran bottom left Kyran, Kyran. In the end he ended up with 9 goals (which could have been eight but we’ll give him the benefit). Not to be out shone Elliot McKie pulled off a hat trick the first of which came courtesy of a well place cross form Taylor Simpson. Niall Edge was yet again solid in defence setting off many of the attacks on the opponent’s goal. Unfortunately for Ben Woodward he didn’t have much to do in this game and we finally rounded the game off with a goal that came as a result of 6 passes with William Day putting a measure pass in to Oliver Groombridge’s path to finish the Gladiators scoring.
The Gunner kicked off with hunger and William Gresham opened the scoring and followed this up with some great skill and turns to put Josh Sell in on goal which he finished off with a hard strike to the back of Kivertons goal. Tom Gregg then put a perfect pass through the defence for William to score again. Tom followed this when he turned he marker inside out and put a great right foot cross in for Josh and his second. Freddie Grimmer seem to come out of nowhere and smashed the first of four home. Morgan Bailey put in some great wing play and his first cross went across goal begging for someone to be on the end of it. Again he followed up with his own hat-trick the pick of the bunch coming from a William Gresham cross and clean strike way out of reach on the kiverton keeper. Some great battling from Josh Sell put Louis Naylor in on goal and he finished off at close range. Poor old Isaac Mullins was a spectator for much of the game but was there on the few occasions he was needed. A very positive result and demonstrated that the boys were back on
